Well, unfortunately i did not take some pics of the wiring connections to the armature / coil before i did the repair. I actually unsoldered the switch and soldered the switch wires together. Now it only works at what seems to be the lowest speed even though I rotate the speed control to 10.( I should take it to 11 - This is Spinal tap.LOL:rolleyes:). Anyway I want to make sure I have the black and red wires connected correctly. Anyone have an insight into these connections they can share or a pic please? I have the same troubles. But I did take some pics. If you are willing to assist, I'd be happy to send you some of my pictures of the opened unit, I would like to be sure I knew which of the switch wires to hook together. I don't have a concern for the speed, since I intend to rewire it to 11, skipping the rest altogether. I took mine apart and clean all the crud out, and reassembled, and nothing changed. After I tore it apart more completely, I made sure I had pictures so I would return wires to their correct place. It was at this point, once I had the brushes and wires removed, I came to find that the switch on the outside wasn't the switch, but an extension and the sneaky switch was hiding in plain sight all along. After wiggling and poking and prodding, I determined that either it was toasted inside, or the heat might've softened the structure that secures it to the chassis, and now it will not stay still firmly enough. So I reassembled again, and again, nothing was as I hoped. Finally, after much searching I found your post, and giving a good deal of appreciation to your recognition of the words of Nigel who sums up what every amplifier and audio engineer have yet to accomplish: a volume knob that reaches the unattainable and elusive 11. Winning eleven ps1 iso. This is double amusing, I just realized as I'm writing this that today is in fact the eleventh day of the eleventh month. (Nov 11, '13) So anyhow, I hope you might get this and take moment to read and respond. Cheers, Stephen.
